We are grateful for the Church of the Palms family and their response to the victims of Hurricane Irma. Over the past several weeks our community has sought to bring hope to those whose lives have been inalterably affected by the harshest sides of the storm.  For the first two weeks following the hurricane Church of the Palms served as a center for relief for many.  Our doors were opened less than 48 hours after the storm to welcome people with a cool space, hot coffee, soup, bags of groceries and electricity to power their devices.  Hundreds were served with food to take home to get them through several days.  Several teams of youth worked on clearing yards of church members and other neighbors.

On top of all this, we have been collecting supplies to support the Immokalee migrant community which was sorely affected.  A van-full of supplies towing a U-Haul trailer filled with more supplies (shoes, clothing, diapers, food, and more) were delivered to Immokalee on October 3 and graciously and thankfully receive by our mission partners.

In addition, our congregation has been receiving an offering for Irma victims and as of October 4 we have received $17,867.  We thank you for your generosity. Our Global Partners Committee will ensure that these monies are directed toward the mission partners and agencies we determine are in greatest need and have the greatest capacity to use the funds well.  If you would still like to contribute, please make your check out to Church of the Palms and note “Irma Relief” or click on the link below.
